LEADERSHIP AND CHANGE
LEADERSHIP AND CHANGE
You have to trade each day on and off work with the currencies of candour, integrity, the right use of language, the use to which you put time and in fact, the totality of your service and delivery.
Do not delude yourself. You have to attract money and the people you are leading have to benefit from this. They go to the same market that every other person goes to. You know what that means. Money is good. It’s a good currency but attitude should precede every other thing.
True change does not happen unless the people are driven. Through the ability to install drive software in them based on the codes you write daily as you engage, your people are able to connect with you. You must exhibit empathy and live compassion simultaneously.
What is your culture and how do you build it? I like the way Gary Vaynerchuk puts it. According to Gary Vee, I drive culture through dictatorship. He didn’t stop there. He added meritocracy. Truth is that the people have to love you enough to follow. You must practice tough love. And it begins with you. You have to be exemplary. This is non-negotiable.
You must show consistency over intensity. Through baby steps taken each day, you make routines. We become what we do routinely. With routines, we practice and gain mastery. Our understanding is enriched and made fruitful through the things we do.
Change therefore starts from the inside. Without the intangible models of enduring values installed within, we cannot have the sustainability to build deliberate growth habits. We have to envision before we can focus because vision precedes focus.
Ponder on these thoughts as you set out today. Let your thoughts, words, and works align. That is how you can inculcate the right habits and build enduring character. It’s your victory.

ReplyDeleteI really love this;
ReplyDelete"True change does not happen unless the people are driven". It reminds me of one of the greatest books I've read; The Animal Farm by George Orwell.
Sir, do you think giving our leadership style a new outlook, would change it for the better? If yes, how do we actualize this
ReplyDeletein our country because I know it's a facade?
